The horses carrying The Horse Ranch brand HR have been ranch raised along the banks of the Beatton River. Our Ranch stallion Genuine Jet Smooth "Jet" was chosen for his bloodlines, conformation and trainability which goes back to all World Champions starting with his father Genuine 007 by Genuine Doc out of the famous Doc Bar. Jet has been one of the easiest horses to train and ride that Glenn has ever had the pleasure of handling. This fabulous disposition (as well as conformation) has carried through to his offspring. We will on occasion also purchase outside horses if they match up with the criteria we set for our herd.
Training - The Ultimate Start
No force. No fear. Just natural communication and understanding. A good start isn't something, it's everything. Glenn starts young horses and does foundation training for customers year round, and was also awarded the title of Parelli Horse Specialist. In order to receive this accreditation the requirement is to have a minimum rating in eleven different areas including Young Horses, Starting Under Saddle, Challenging horses, Foundation training, Instructing, Horsemanship, Reining and Cow Working.
All of our horses have been started utilizing Natural Horsemanship methods. These methods create a foundation of communication understood between horse and human, where the horse learns trust and acceptance unconditionally and without force. The broader and stronger this foundation is, the more willing and capable their new partner will be. Our colts are started under saddle at 2 years old. At this time their ground skills, liberty and online are also improved. We teach the finer points of stopping, turning, sidepass, hind and fore quarter yields in the corrals, round pens and horse playground. The development of these horses also includes rides through the river valleys, through the bush, up and down hills, and across creeks. Opening gates, swinging ropes and dragging obstacles from the saddle are also some of the foundation our horses receive as they develop throughout the program. Light, responsive, confident, willing, happy and people friendly are all words we would like to use when describing our own horses, and it is our belief that others appreciate the same.
Finding the correct match of horse and rider is extremely important when purchasing a horse. We like to have a detailed discussion with the buyer so that we can put together a group of horses to choose from that are suited to their interests and ability. Horses of your choice will be demonstrated with an opportunity to ride each horse in the arena and out on the trails. After making a selection and purchase it has proven to be very successful for the new owner to enroll in a clinic with their new horse. This allows us to help the partnership get off on a positive, progressive note.
The description of training the individual horses have is the minimum, as the development of these horses is continuous and ongoing. If you choose a horse and would like that particular horse further developed, we would be excited to continue the process. We would be willing to take any of these horses through Stage 8/Parelli Level 3 (see Stages Program) and beyond. Some of our horses will be developed through Stage 8/Level 3, earning a living on the ranch. Others Glenn will ride and use to help start more young horses. They will range in height between 14.2 and 16 hands. They are all easy to catch, trim, trailer load and de-worm.

2 & 3 Year Olds L/R Phoenix (sold), Feather, Spark (sold) Martini, Flash
Under each description of the horses below is a link to see more pictures and details of bloodlines. When we wrote this, we were finding it hard in a lot of instances to find different things to say about each one. We are very proud of our horse's conformation, love of people, keen minds and athleticism, so if an attribute was left out on one yet given to another it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
